This new Draganfly X6 UAV Helicopter could be the next tool that makes cranes and jibs obsolete for exterior video production. It takes the physical height limit of a crane out of the equation and the best part is, it’s an unmanned craft. It could also replace manned aircraft and potential liability issues for low-level aerial photography or video production. It’s operated from the ground with a handheld remote unit. The X6 looks to be quite stable with 6 rotors and 11 on-board sensors. One of the best features for photographers and videographers is the anti-vibration camera mount.
The only potential downside seems to be the price tag at $17,000 for the base unit, plus additional costs for accessories and spare parts. Nonetheless, it looks like a great tool and one that Frogman will certainly follow and evaluate based on our client needs.
