Frogman Interactive is proud to announce the launch of a new Web site: verysurry.com for the Surry County Tourism Office in North Carolina. The site promotes the many attractions, restaurants and accommodations throughout the county, including the towns of Dobson, Elkin, the village of Rockford, Pilot Mountain and famous Mount Airy, home of the legendary Andy Griffith show.
The team at Very Surry was in need of a flexible Web site in which they could easily update content such as news items, calendar events and special features. A Content Management System (CMS) is never an easy tool to deploy. There are many parameters to take in consideration to prevent the Web site from breaking when a non-web person copies and pastes content in the system. There are also many CMS to choose from such as Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal and many others perhaps not as popular. At Frogman, we chose the Intellogy system, which offers the functionality we need for our clients, but also the flexibility to style it the way we (our clients) want. With a combination of PHP and XML, we were able to custom-tailor the Web site to offer visitors a unique way to access the information frequently updated by the Very Surry staff members.
If you would like to learn more about the Intellogy CMS and how easy it is to use, listen to what Clare Altmann, Director Of Marketing for Capital Development Services has to say.
Note: The Web site also features an interactive map showcasing the many places to visit in Surry County. It was entirely built using XHTML, CSS and Javascript (AJAX – jQuery Library). This map is quite simple, but the flexibility of AJAX would allow us to easily add more dynamic content such as videos and virtual tours. On the Very Surry Web site, click on the link by the compass to view the map. To view similar maps we have deployed for other clients, visit our Interactive Maps page.
